Previous one was borked. 8D It's what I get for making a slight change and then uploading without testing first.



Note that if the bot attacks in the air and hits the ground before the animation completes, it will endlessly run in the direction it is facing. To fix this, smack it. :3

Hot piss, it's actually starting to look and feel like actual combat now. 8D

The bot actively persues you through either of the two levels and tries to beat you senseless. Controls posted in it. The room you can now switch to with F3 is kinda wonky. It's an early DM level for cheyan, and I'm still workin' on bot pathing. The bot is still utterly confused by ramps and slopes.

If the bot attacks in the air - there's still no jump attacks yet - and lands before the attack completes, the bot will basically "break", and it'll immediately keep running in the direction it's facing endlessly. I'm almost positive this has been fixed already, but it might still happen. Fortunetely, there is an easy method of fixing it: just hit it again. :B I am probably more amused by this than I should be.

VS = Bot will now attack, mostly

For the most part, the bot will now run up to you and attempt to kick your ass. :3 Still needs some fine-tuning, but it'll hit you. Mostly.


But instead of uploading that, I uploaded this instead. This is from a few hours prior, when I was trying to get the attack mask for the bot working, and... well, this happened. 8D

And it looks fucking lol.


See, what's going on here is the bot has nothing limiting the number of attacks it can do at once, hence the animation going at warp speed there - the game is set to run at 60 fps, meaning the bot is attacking at least 60 times per second. The green clones are the bot's attack mask [seperate object spawned when you attack that goes over the attacker; enemies coliding with it get hurt] and they ended up using the player object as a base instead of the bot.

And that's why Cheyan suddenly looks like Vishnu the Destroyer. :dummy:


I kinda wanna run with it. I mean, build a character with attacks that involve off-color replications that pop out and do the attacks instead of the character proper. Not at sixty friggin' times per second, of course 8D


Also, this will eventually crash; I've already fixed most of what's wrong here.

Edit, forgot the dll used in the node pathing. Put it in whatever folder has the exe. 8D [link]


Arrow keys move, tap a direction twice to dash. A for light attack, S for heavy, and D for a projectile.

Improvements:

-Projectile, derp :3

-Collision recognition - that is, it will recognize when you're attacking something. The lil' green swoosh things when you do some of the attacks is actually the mask for the attack, and anything that touches that will be damaged.

-There is now a computer-controlled bot in the level with you. :la: This is what took most of the past week or two to do, and it has taken the majority of my time. Aside from fine-tuning the way it moves and adding attacks and probably a few other things I'm forgetting at the moment it's almost finished. :la:

-The bot can navigate on it's own via node paths - those are those lil' circle things with lines between them - and can go after a target, which at the moment is you. :3 It can't attack just yet, though, but she'll follow you until she reaches a threshold, and then just stand there.

-Three attacks [..lol, one for each button, I just realized this] will actually register as a hit to the bot, though only two of them will make her go into her "hit" sprite.



Now to get her to fight back.... *plottyhands*

Month later, and now we're gettin' somewhere. :la:

Character is :iconragchow:'s Cheyan. Needs quite a bit of tweaking, let alone art for the stage she's in, but it's progress, lol.

The coding for this thing has progressed in leaps and bounds. All it needs for basic combat at the moment is just enemy AI, which I have already laid the groundwork for, and some masks for the attacks. And a few lines of coding for collision detection. :> And then add rudementry health and damage and shit and bam, deathmatch tiem 8D
